This is a resort with five star facilities (what they claim) located in Shimla. It is situated in Shilon bagh, 10 Kms from Kufri. The package costs even more than the best hotels in Manali and even in Goa.The following were just few problem which I immediately noticed, After I checked-in so called five star Shilon Resort, which is also named by the owners, Mini-switzerland in 40 acres.
Dressing light - not working
Outside room light-not working
TV remote- not working
Bathtub in bathroom - not available
Bathroom drainage - chocked
Washbasin -leaking badly
Lucky are resort people to get such a serene location for the resort. But unlucky are the guests who get a resort with such a poor maintenance. Every thing from the floor to the top needs refurbishing. Fromm our room, we have to dial 401- Reception, 402- Room service and 403- Housekeeping, and irony is that 4, of the dial set was not working. I had to hit it with a bottle opner everytime to dial it (lol). Lampshades and lights didn't have a centralized control, I had to search everywhere to find the corresponding switches for the lights. Strangely it is the first 5 star resort I have seen without a bathtub (may be that is why drainage was chocked intentionally, to convert it into a bathtub or swimming pool (if u are more luxury loving person).
Food is very ordinary. I think, I can cook better than what they did. You will come out hungry even after being served a free buffet meal. Then I went to play Table tennis, but found the table in two parts. I had to literally pick the second part to joint it with the first part. I didn't dare to use the gym, as I was afraid that the machine will fall on me.
They claim to have 'cottages'. But if they re-term it as 'caves', it would have been more appropriate. The authorities must visit 'Span Resorts' Manali to check how a cottage look like. Only naming a 'cottage'. won't change a dimmly litted room into a cottage.
I wish, Taj, Hyats somebody takeover this resort, as the location is excellent, surrounded by cloud-kissing-mountains from all sides, and the serene environment sprinkling the drops of medititive nectar on you, it can definitely converted into a heaven.
