Value for Money:

I subscribed to Reader's Digest thinking it would be an informative monthly, but all I got is constant negligence and a big hole in my pocket. I had a one year subscription (which too I did not want to renew), after 6 months I got a parcel containing the same books (which I found out after opening the parcel, since there was no info on the cover) and another one year subscription renewed on my id.

So now I had 2 subscriptions which I didn't ask for. When I complained, the customer care executive told me they would call me back, which they never did (I had to call them thrice after that). After sending them 2 mails I got a reply after 3 weeks, where they said they will extend my subscription but will not refund the amount or stop the subscription! I had no option so I gave up and complained, for which they 'apologized' by sending me a tea coaster(1 coaster out of a pack of 6)! That's what they do- insult customers and give them coasters! I thought it shouldn't be hard to bear with them for another year but 3 months later I received another 'new subscription' (700 bucks) which obviously I did NOT want.

This time I returned it without opening/paying(duh) and also complained to their CCE. Instead of correcting the mistake, a week later I received a letter which was a 'threat' demanding me to pay for the 'books' which I hadn't read or even opened! A threat...a literal, written threat to an already extorted customer. From then I decided that I would never subscribe to ANY product/service of The India Today Group because:

1.mediocre content,

2.below average articles,

3.Taking customers for granted/ no services whatsoever

4.Blatant extortion/harassment.

5.meaningless (shameless) commercialisation (almost every third page contained an advertisement of some really lame product) also the special features were utter s***

  1. 'dhamkis' and use of force to sell their products to helpless subscribers.

I even disliked their FB page 'cause of the low quality of their posts and cheap advertisements.

Two friends of mine unsubscribed to India Today too and switched to another. I hate Reader's Digest and advice everyone to NEVER subscribe to them. All they want is your money!
