Mangalore airport is great help for South Canara and Kasargod people. However the customs people asking bribes without any hesitation. They ask very openly and I feel this airport is a security risk to the nation.
I was travelling on July 24th 2008 evening. Once I collected the Baggage, one officer with nice uniform asked me tell me how much Gold you have inside luggae . I told some xx pawans. He said carrying gold is illegal. So pay me 500 Rupees or else it will be a big problem for you. You need to open your entire luggage for inspection. Finally one more Fat lady joined and she insisted me to pay the bribe or else the things will become more complicated. So in front of all the officers he collected bribe and sent me out without screening my Luggage!
*-> SENDING BAGGAGE OUT OF AIRPORT WITHOUT SCREENING FOR SAKE OF 500 RUPEES.
*I Travelled back on 16th August 2008. There were many questions in immigration. They stamped me and sent inside. I crossed the Human Body Screener machine. After that two - three people entered inside . the scurity guard with Metal Detector was checking everyone. The time was 11.30. One guy was scolding the security that the Body screener is not switched on since morning!

I suggest goverment should install security camera in top of all customs officials to monitor theirper daily bribe collection.
Imagine a security officer taking bribe in front of all the officers means all officers in customs section are part of the bribe scandal.
