IRCTC has scope to do better, but still it is fine. Review on IRCTC

I have been using IRCTC website ever since it was launched.

Earlier, it used to be a breeze to book tickets in this website. However, of late, the site has become slow and virtually crawls at 0800 hrs when the Tatkal booking opens. IRCTC is very much aware of the problem and is taking steps to correct the speed.

I would like to put the following suggestions to IRCTC to further improve their service:

1. Enable return ticket booking in one shot like in all airline bookings.

2. Instead of charging additional amount for website booking, IRCTC should realize that the online brokers reduce the congestion at the counters and should offer them attractive discount.

3. There should be a scheme of mileage points and frequent travelers. Shubh Yadra cards hardly serve this purpose.

4. Bookings to hill stations like Ooty and Simla should be one continuous ticket instead of split tickets.

5. Show all the trains in the website, including passenger trains to enable booking of tickets by passenger trains also.

I hope these suggestions would be suitably considered.
