In Jan'09, I planned a trip to shimla with my frnds and I thank my stars to have decided to leave Delhi early morning to avoid the peak rush of morning. We were to commute by my own car so we decided to cross Delhi once and then halt for fueling.
On my way, in Sonepat Barhi Indl Area, my frnd asked me to stop at a very good looking HPCL pump, swearing by its delightful service. I thought let me give it a try - and I was amazed to see the boys at the outlet welcoming each and every customer with unmatched zest, though in the wee morning hours.
They greeted us with a bright smile and were very prompt and efficient. One rare virtue that I noticed was, the boy very politely prompted me to look at the meter to ensure it's on 'zero'. Such customer service and personalized attention...that too in today's world is uncommon.
I wodered as to what made them so energetic and motivated and soon I found out the reason. The owner of the pump was himself present early morning - supervising the customer service himself. I could not restrain myself, went ahead and introduced myself.
I wanted to know what went behind the good reputation of this famed outlet....and the owner - Mr Vinay Mohan said -'since I am very keen on every aspect of customer delight - I make sure the spirit percolates down to my staff as well.
I keep them motivated by being nice to them myself and they have never seen me compromising on this vista so my staff is fully aware of my expectations from them.' A true example of examplary entrepreneurship - I must say...such devotion. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK - BALAJI SERVICE STATION. U truly deserve this coveted repute. I wish there were more such honest and enthralling petrol pumps in India.
One more thing that I noticed about this place is - its well manicured small landscaping and spik and span toilets. A truly out of the world experience...
