UVA Test Drive-Underpowered vehicle. Review on Chevrolet UVA

Well I have been eyeying this GM beauty for some time as I have to buy a car in this segment soon and hence I took a test drive of Maruti Ritz, Swift, Hyundai i10, i20 and ofcourse UVA today.

I went to GM showroom in Motinagar, Delhi and the sales person was quite nice to deal with.Much better with sales people in Tata showroom(they wont even bother to ask your contact details once you are done with your trip).There is a nice discount on the vehicle going on as December is generally the month when companies look to clear their stocks.

The base model of UVA including central locking, front power windows, 2 din stereo and few other goodies are coming at 4Lakhs on road in delhi.Its a nice lookign car to begin with.Once you are inside the beige interiors and space in the car gives  a big car feeling.There are ample of storage options like maruti ritz(cup-holders and golve boxes) and rear seating is quite comfortable with ample of leg room compared to other car in this segment. So far so good and I turned the ignition on.

The pick up is okay, but gear knob is not that smooth(again this is relative).I test drove aveo as well and it was worse..maybe its a negative thing in GM vehicles.Anyhow this can also be attributed to the fact that it was a test drive vehicle.But the real road blocker issue was the power or the driving pleasure.The vehicle feels under powered while shifting from one gear to another.It does not pick acceleration quickly enough and moves sluggishly despite the fact that it has good suspension.It was quite dissapointing and if you are really bothered about the driving pleasure than this is not the car for you.If you can live with the low power than its a good choice.Also resale is an issue..maruti and hyundai looks more practical as they are better to drive and will fetch you more resale..

Though uva looks good, has good beige interiors, quite spacious and looks good from outside as well..

but it is an under powered vehicle so the engine is not that refined and that sums up the whole thing.
