The place where I did my summers was a lane away from Candies and for the two months I was there, hardly a day went by when I didnt drop in there for a snack.
Candies has been down the lane, opp Lilavati Hospital forever and till date is a favourite hangout for people of all ages. I will go down the list of recommendations for you one by one.
Location - The mere fact that it is opposite Lilavati and near MET and SIES college makes sure that there isnt a single time when people are not waiting around to be seated. the decor is very light and modern, keeping in with the image of the place, though the hanging lights can be a bit of a bother in crowds. Its almost always full, but the people still wait, patiently, for a chance to be seated.
Tip - If you are not the patient sort, I suggest pack up, drive/hitch a ride to reclamation and enjoy your treat in the open evening breeze. Great for a hang-out with friends.
Food - Mostly snacks and desserts. You eat it as you see it, as all the items are prepackaged. But the array is amazing. Veg, chicken, or the occasional apple tart, its all there. Although Continental in origin, I am sure you would find something to your taste among their dishes on offer. And it tastes great.
Service - Self Service completely. If you can manage to worm your way in through the crowd and be able to make yourself heard, someone will take your order and provide you instantly, and with a smile on their faces. No complaints there. You have to look out for a place to sit in advance though, if that would be your intention.
Value for money - I had once ordered a Chicken Lasagna in the evening and the quantity was so much that a skipped dinner. And only for a measly 65 bucks. Even if you are the hearty eater types, I can guarantee that your pocket wouldnt be any lighter because of Candies. The reasonable price range is also a reason why so many college youths can be seen filling up the place at all times.
Over all agreat place for an evening out with friends, even lovers or family. Large groups recommended. Makes it merrier.
