This is one madcap funny movie created back when Jim Carey was actually funny rather than trying too hard to be a serious actor.
Its tells the rather odd story of a guy called Ace Ventura who is obviously a few cans short of a sixpack whose job is a ummm pet detective. He is a private investigator who handles all pet related investigations and when the Miami Dolphins mascot disappears, kidnapped, he is assigned to track down the perpetrators.
Its not exactly heavy on the plot but where it excels is with gags aplenty and some hilarious face pulling slapstick. Yes its childish, and blatantly stupid from start to finish but you can't help but be won over by Carey's totally insane performance. Wonderful stuff and clean humour too so good fun for all the family.
