Thank GOD! I saved a lot of money, as I missed out the movie in theaters, and it didn't took me any extra money in watching the movie on TV, which was premiered last saturday. There was nothing special for which a movie theater was required, except songs, which obviously I can enjoy on my IPOD using earbud-headphones. The movie is directed by a debutante Rohit Dhawan, who by chance is a son of old-time famous director David Dhawan (he is still active in directing new movies, but unfortunately lost his charm, like he was having in old days with Govinda and party). And this movie was followed by a very pathetic attempt by his father (RASCALS!). Trailers looked good, and I was initially interested in the movie, but missed it.

The movie is a story of two friends Jerry (Akshay Kumar) and Nick (John Abraham), and they faced a hard-hitting recession. Both loses jobs. Jerry has a girlfriend Radhika (Deepika Padukone) to whom he want to marry and Jerry has a sweet school-going nephew Veer (Virej Desai) to took care of. So they join a club named "Desi Boyz" owned by Sanjay Dutt, and become two Male Esco*ts named Rocco and Hunter. When Radhika comes to know about this, she breaks up with Nick, and Jerry too loses Veer's custody to a foster home. This hits hard to both. On one hand, Nick started efforts to again appease his girlfriend Radhika, on the other, Jerry, a college-droupout, went back to his 'Trinity College' to complete his graduation, and in the end, all well that ends well. TADA!! (shhh! its not the law, which get the hell out of Sanjay Dutt!!)

All so simple na, simply written by Rohit Dhawan (story-screenplay-direction), and due to overtime because of so much work-pressure, he forget to cook his matter well, he started with a scene, left it in between, and proceed further. And how simple is that - you get an Indian saviour, job dene wala in London so easily, who owned esco*t services which have a Hindi word in it "Desi". How simple is that, your new teacher is an Indian girl (Chitrangada Singh) for whom you were actually a crush, and she tries to teach you economics a more se*ier way. How simple is that, when you are looking for a new job, suddenly you got a boss who is Indian (Satish Kaushik), who is so dumb so that anyone can easily make fool of him. And how simple is that, you even get a Indian judge who listens to the Jerry's case, and then simply, bas yunhi, Sanjay Dutt walks in, talks rubbish, handed his company's card to the judge in front of everyone, judge too got seduced (a lady judge, who don't have anything else to do!), and he went back! HAAN! These techniques I saw in so many other movies, and are now bored of it, be some realistic yaar! All the characters are under-cooked, and actors are simply wasted, actors like Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher. Chitrangada did what she was asked to do, to put the glamour quotient in the movie. Deepika was horrible in her role, simple playing same kinds of roles every now-and-then. Akshay Kumar, same old expressions, same old story. Yes, I liked John Abraham, he was the only cool breeze in this hot summer of Desi Boyz.Movie starts in a good mood, with comic track, and able to generate few laughs here and there, you seems to enjoy the lead characters a bit, and suddenly out of the blue, you were thrown in an emotional setting where everybody has actually a sore counter-part to handle with, and then suddenly you started to mend your relationships, forgetting all the fun. Why this justification is required always, can't we make it simple! Just like the movie I watched prior to this (Forrest Gump) can't it be so simple, but it was made stupid, full of foolishness, and I forgot my so precious laughs. I think even Sajid Khan (Housefull so-called fame) was better, whom I hate the most. Rohit Dhawan requires a lot of training on directing a movie, looks so amateurish in his first attempt. Other good thing was the music of the film, the songs, almost all songs are hummable, likeable. My best was obviously the title track, "Desi Boyz" (sung by KK, Bob). Other best compositions are "Allah Maaf Kare" (Sonu Nigam, Shilpa Rao), "Subah hone na de" (Mika Singh, Shefali Alvares) and "Jhak Maar ke" (Neeraj Sridhar 'Bombay Vikings' and Harshdeep Kaur). Music is given by Pritam and lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil (Rockstar fame), Kumaar and Amitabh Bhattacharya (Bhaag DK Bose, Emosanal Atyachar, Aamir fame).

When I finished the movie, I was wondering, infact it was my brain who thought(!!), is life so simple, that anything like this can happen, can they not film it realistic, then my heart said, if they show reality in a movie, it will not remain as movie, but again my so-called brain strikes back, asking one basic ques, is it really required to show such foolishness, oh-comeon, today's viewers are more intelligent (!! are they!!) that you cannot show them anything, atleast some (a little bit) logic is required. But okay, everybody has a chance to improve and Rohit is a new lad in town, I am sure, he will improve. My take 2.5/5. If you want to watch a good movie of the pair (John-Akshay), do watch Garam Masala (directed by Priyadarshan), that was a really good and comic movie.
