Nothing company was founded by Carl Pei in 2020, who was also the co-founder of OnePlus. Nothing launched its first phone, Nothing Phone (1) in July 2022 with Nothing OS 1.0, based on Android 12. The company believes in premium build quality, vibrant display, good primary camera, and a clean Android experience. The glyph lights were a distinctive feature that made it stand out from the crowded mid-range smartphone segment.

The Nothing Phone 2 (a) Plus is the latest Nothing smartphone launched on July 31, 2024. It features a Nothing-exclusive MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G chip making it a powerful device below the 30k price range. It also works on the latest Nothing OS 2.6, powered by Android 14 for a seamless and clean user experience. The Phone 2 (a) Plus is the third phone in this line-up after Nothing Phone (2) and 2 (a).

It is a kind of budget line-up of the Nothing company, with the CMF Phone 1 costing around INR 16000. Although the specs do not match the Nothing Phone 2 lineup, they are still powerful for a phone at this price range. A MediaTek dimensity 7300 5G with 8 gigs of RAM and up to 2 TB of expandable storage makes it future-proof and value-for-money. 

Nothing has a minimalist, yet bold design philosophy. Unique features like glyph lights and value-for-money specs make them an attractive option in the budget and mid-range segment. The phones are visually appealing but do not lack performance and utility. They are made with durable materials and a future-proof chipset that is powerful enough to handle heavy tasks.

The Nothing Phone 2 was launched at a price point of INR 44,000 succeeding the initial Phone 1. The Phone 2 (a) is its budget version below INR 25,000 featuring an equally powerful spec sheet. The Phone 2 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 whereas the 2 (a) features a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro but is based on an updated 2.5 Nothing OS. The cameras on both phones are identical but the Phone 2 features a Sony IMX890 sensor which captures beautiful low-light pictures and videos. However, the Phone 2 (a) has a larger battery along with dual stereo speakers. Both phones come with an 8/128 GB base configuration which makes the Phone 2 (a) a value-for-money choice.

No, the Nothing Phone (1) does not support wireless charging and is dependent on a 45 W superfast charger that can charge 0-65% in less than 30 minutes. If you want wireless charging, you will have to upgrade to Phone (2), which supports 15 W Qi wireless charging and even 5 W reverse-charging along with the traditional 45 W wired support.
