Your daily service provider - r u even blinking?

Mumbai / Bombay.. a city of as they say - realizable-dreams. and to realize some dreams, you have to be unscrupulous, dishonest and yet be bindaas to continue to live like that.

this is the simple funda of life that most of your daily service providers live by in this city, and they are thriving by this attitude because the citizens are too caught up with their lives and personal issues to consider such important issues as really 'important' to pay attention to and to put corrective actions in place.

simple example - my daily milk vendor who drops packets of milk in all apartments has been cheating me on every month's bill.. and I came to know if it because I am disciplined and I ensure that my hard earned money is not wasted. But there are 20 other apartment residents who are either not bothered of their money because it is not for them to measure its value or they themselves have earned it the 'other way' to be lenient with such unscrupulous providers.

this milk vendor has been jacking price of milk packets just on the pretext that someday, there was a article in the news paper that milk prices will be hiked.

so this guy happily brings me the bill of the month with hiked prices right from the 1st date of the month, though the price was hiked from the 16th. and that too by only one or 2 companies...

now how many people did notice this? I belive only 5 % of the population because the rest of them might be too caught up to argue with this guy about how they are being jacked as they jack others.

not only this, if the price of one company ishiked, not necessarily that it applies across the board, but this vendor puts that hike across all the different company of milk I order ( basically 2 that I order)

but this given the idea how these guys make money right under our lazy noses...(yes mumbaiites are definitely lazy! - and I can give you examples of cases which proves that the middle class/elite class society of this city is definitely lazy - at a later time)

so this guy shows me a bill where if Mahananda has not hiked its price, he has put a hiked price from the first of the month, along with Gokul which did hike the price but from the 16th.. his bill says prices hiked from the 1st for both.

and this applies to all service providers.. your daily bhajiwala, your daily breadwala, your daily istreewala, your daily kachrawala.. they are in the process of fleecing you beyond the work they do and charge you for more than that... just 'cos your daily bombaywala is too caught up in things which could be better done if you were innately disciplined and not forced into discipline due to resource issues..

now another reason I would say this unscrupulous behavior has not been noticed by 95% of the population is because if they are so aware that they think they are, they would have made a hue and cry of it on some or the other fora.. but they didn't..

i tried to locate source where this hue and cry would have happened but no comments/posts online or offline regd. this issue.

so here I am posting this to ensure the other 'alert' mouthshut members help alert others too... and bring this scam out...

living in this nation is hard work, and 95% of it's population esp. the youth of it, are too naive to know they are born into a nation of scams.. for them, unless their previous generations don't inform them, they will take this to be their normal life...

so also that goes with laziness... people born in mumbai and living here take their doorstep delivery for granted and the prices charged for it - for granted. they don't know what it means to go out early in the morning to find out why the price is so and so, and why they need service to be delivered to their homes when they are capable of going out there, and doing things the right way while not allowing others to do things the wrong way...

but this is mumbai meri jaan... live on! now live with a little more alertness...!!! but make sure you don't get fleeced early in the mornings or late in the night unless you yourself are in such a business...
