Well there was this Sadarjee, who was teased by one and all in the colony. One Hot Summer Afternoon,we Kids were sitting on the Wall watching the world go by.Our Sadarjee was going back home, after buying curd for his family Lunch. He was holding the curd in both his hands carefully balancing it.Venu the knotty one, asked him "Ki haal hai Sadar,Kaha ja raha Hai,And thoda Time toh batha?" Poor Sadarjee turn his hands around to check the time and the curd fell off...

But,let’s face it,if anyone ever asks you if you know the time, your first instinct is to raise your wrist, whether or not you remembered to put on your watch!Do You Wear a Wrist Watch even today? What a Stupid Question?Well I used to,not any more...From the Cheap Casio Digital Watch,To the Titan,Timex,Citizen,Sonata but Now I neglect them All!

I got my First Watch, when I was in my 10th standard, friends used to tease me saying "Cheyee Vachin(Watch Rhyming)da [Is Your hand Swollen?]".I used to keep watch with me all the time to see the time.It was very essential for me to maintain timing. But Over a period of time most friends used to check with me "What time is it?" Esp. when the Social classes became bored or the fear of solving a math problem on the board or when we bunk classes for a Movie or waiting for the bus.The burden of carrying it was there but I wore watch, I just loved being able to check the time whenever I want.I felt my day so incomplete without a wrist watch on me.I always planed what I do on certain time.Without a wrist watch,I felt that I was lost. There are so many people who didn't wear watches who were always asking me for the time, and I just used to blur out: "If you want to know what the time is so often, why not get your own watch?" Agreed. When people ask me the time I just say,'Time to get a watch.' and walk away. What Fun I used have.By the time We were ready for the board exams most friends had wrist watches of all shapes and Sizes to their hands as they came handy when writing exams and Spacing time.

Then I started to lose/break/spoil/drench those Cheap Digital Casio. When into Job I move to a thin Casio Digital cum analogous with date.My favorite, even now.I never thought twice about it until I came across my now ages old watch. The metal is dull with age, wear and use. There were scratches in the crystal when I accidentally ran my wrist into walls, buses, fights, ground, pipes and what not.I did try it on.It still fits. But sadly did not run.The old battery must have died.

It was 1992,I got my first pager which had the time and I became very dependent on it.It had an alarm and I would often use it,even though I wore the Wrist Watch.I never thought about it that way, pagers taking over the wrist. Then came the PDAs.And then while in IT Job,I always had the real time clock clicking around,In fact in those Days My DOS OS used to flash the Date and Time on screen all time.Slowly I started neglecting my wrist watch. With the advent of Windows OS the task bar always stars at you with the clock. And we have these watches strategically positioned on office walls to remind us of the time.Time and Tide wait for No Man.Get the Work Done. And it never was...

Soon I got my first mobile phone,I am no longer concerned if I wear wrist watch or not.I just started depending on my mobile phone for the time. However,I realized that it is much better if I just wear wrist watch rather than depending on my phone.I found out that it is more practical because not much hassle on where will I put it because I just have to wear it on my wrist.Unlike when I am depending on my mobile phone for the time,I really have dig it out of my pant pockets(Sometime Embarrassing too) every now and then just to check the time on my phone.

Mobile phone has been used as a multiple service device by most of us. It's true that ever since mobile phones got widely used and time can be checked through them, most people don't wear their wrist watches anymore.I'm one of them.Though not because of the clock of cell phones but wearing a watch while you're always in front of the computer and you have to type while teaching,it can be a hassle and a bit uncomfortable. So,I stopped wearing my old wristwatch and I can always check the time on the bottom right corner of the computer anyhow.

And yes, somehow with the technologies changing and improving everyday,we unconsciously, tend to go with the flow of those changes and become their slaves. One of its forgotten casualties of technological changes is the poor wristwatch. But with miniaturization of technology We may start wearing the Mobile on the Wrist. What revenge? LoL

Do You Wear A Wristwatch? ... And if so, why are you always running late? LoL
