It is interesting to know that the Indian Institute of Management- Bangalore (IIM-B) is planning to introduce Bhagavad Gita as part of its syllabus. With this, they will be chanting the ‘ancient times in modern days’ mantra. Already Oxford University has scientific study of Ramayana in its syllabus. IISc uses artifacts in Indian palm leaves that give details of aeronautic science. Sushruta for his surgery has used sharp instruments that can cut a hair across into 100 pieces.
I personally believe every Religious Scripture focuses on the Basic elementary Disciplines & describes the way the life has to be led by an individual, may it be Quran, Bible, Guru Granth, or Vedas. These holy books are the treasure of knowledge. Children should be imparted the knowledge of all these holy books and there should be no politics over it. In today’s time all sorts of immoralities, discriminations; Hunt for Supremacy, the importance of scripture learning has become the need of the hour to transform our system.
There is no second thought Bhagawat Gita is the pride of India . An unmatched glory of knowledge. Every freedom fighter from Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh and many others were guided by it throughout their life. It is such a wonderful book which can provide necessary values, knowledge and handling situations in life. Hope the students get insight of this wonderful knowledge which helps them handle life as a whole and every situation.
Many scholars are of the opinion that Bhagawat Gita is a book which teaches a person on how he/she should equip to fight a challenge unfazed by misleading emotions and to work towards the ideal goal. Bhagawat Gita teaches techniques of teaching, mentoring, discipline, provides checklists and monitoring details in a scientific rational way.
It should be understood that the Bhagavad-Gita is the very essence of Mahabharata. The
Bhagavad-Gita literally translates as the Song of God! It was originally revealed in the classical language of Sanskrit spoken on the Indian sub-continent. It was first translated into English in 1785 by Charles Wilkins. It was translated into Latin in 1823 by Schlegel, into German in 1826 by Von Humbolt, into French in 1846 by Lassens and into Greek in 1848 by Galanos. By now it has been translated into all the major languages of the world such as Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Hebrew, Portugese, Arabic, Hindi and Bengali.
Many great and notable individuals from modern times as well as bygone eras have read the Bhagavad-Gita and have extolled its universal message. Some of them are,
Albert Einstein stated that when reading the Bhagavad-Gita he thinks about how God created the universe and then everything else seemed so superfluous.
Bhagavad-Gita calls on humanity to dedicate mind, body and soul to purity. (Mahatma Gandhi)
Dr. Albert Schweizer stated, Bhagavad-Gita has a profound influence on the spirit of mankind by its devotion to God which is manifested in all actions.
Bhagavad-Gita has a new message for every age and every civilization. (Sri Aurobindo)
As long as individuals do not take the responsibility to make changes in their behaviors, and make better choices, things will not change significantly at a global level. Mahatma Gandhi very rightly said, “Be the change you want to see in the world”. This point we seem to miss often in responding to many challenges in the world. Bhagavad Gita the timeless wisdom enables one to realize the potential to be that person who is mature and responsible.
Dear friends, A very happy janmashtami. Let’s believe in God and should always fight
against the wrong.
