This incident dates back almost 17 years and as usual I was busy to create problems and havocs by doing heavy mischief.
I was not lucky on that day and Daddy caught me red handed. He was very angry on my heart was sinking already. On Mum's sifarish he was scolding me heavily. Being a professor of Hindi he was scolding me as used to in his college. I was barely 8/9 years old and was finding it very difficult to understand him!
He folded my hands and asked the following:
Daddy : Masti Karoge?
I : Nahin Karronga
D: Kisi ko Tang Karoge?
I : Nahin Karoonga.
D: Sharif Bacche banoge?
I : (Completely not knowing about the word at all) : NAHIN BANOONGA!
D: What? Sharif nahin banoge?
I : (Guessed by the expression and felt that I had given a wrong answer) : Haan banoonga!
D: Pehle Kyoon nahin bola?
I : Main dar gaya tha! (Honestly lied)
My dad gauged that I was not aware the word at all and took me out and got me a big chocolate. WOW.
He still remembers that incident and he still teases me with that word " Shareef". Whenever he comes to Pune from Kolhapur he Chocolate for me and gives me only when I answer affirmatively to : " SHAREEF BANOGE YA NAHIN"
This incident is very close to my heart and I still cherish it with equal sweetness as I used to for so many years.....
