Crimes have increased but so has the strength to fight them back. On the lines of ‘Crime Patrol-Dastak’, the DTH Channel, Life OK airs a show based on true stories. It is called, ‘Savdhaan India – India Fights Back’. It is hosted by a Film/T.V. actor, Sushant Singh. It is a daily soap, which comes between 10.30 to 11.30pm, except weekends.

The program depicts various kinds of crimes committed by people, in India, like murder, rapes, molestations, financial and metal harassment, kidnapping and so on, followed by one or a group of persons fighting the crime and bringing the culprits to books. The daily soap not only brings forth the crimes but offers strength to victims and others to fight and stand against criminals. It is a very encouraging and bold effort.

I would now like to state in short some horrifying crime stories narrated in the serial.

  1. Bonded Labour – In a village, a criminal runs a racket of ‘Bonded Labour’. Young boys and girls are offered jobs by him on his construction site. But once they join his company, they are held as hostage and all kinds of physical labour are forced on them. The young girls are raped and forced to work as entertainers and labours in the same premises. Once when a young boy joins this firm, he has no idea of the world he is entering into. When the realities come forth he tries to revolt and run along with the girls but fails. His spirit to fight back the owner does not recede. A vigilance team arrives to see the progress of the work on the site. They know that the owner is a criminal and warns him of arrest once they get some evidence. The labours are terrified not to say a word negative to them. When the team leaves, the young boy once again gathers support from the other victims and attacks the criminals after a lot of planning. The criminals are arrested and punished. The young boy is felicitated for his strength. The evil of bonded labour and related crimes end in the area.

  2. Forced Marriage – In a small district of Bihar, a political Bahubali family lives which is sad as none of its sons are married and they have no heir. The mother and the father find a beautiful girl and propose their son’s marriage to her. The Bahubali family has a violent and criminal background. When the girl comes to know their reality she refuses to marry in their family. Her family supports her decision and they inform them about it. The Bahubali’s ego is hit and they kidnap the girl. She is forcibly married to one of their sons in their house. A video of the marriage is shot and sent to the girl’s family showing her consent for the same. For years there is no news of the bride. She is tortured, beaten and abused in front of her husband’s guests. When the senior minister of the family head party arrives in their house, the bride puts a smiling show. The bride is pregnant and tries to kill herself so that the baby is not born. When she is admitted in the hospital, the girl’s parents get a call informing that their daughter is in a hospital. Her bold, younger sister visits her in guise and captures a video narration on her mobile. She shows it to her electronic media teacher, who releases the story on his T.V. channel. The Bahubali family is arrested and punished. The bride is set free, thanks to the strength of her sister. She and her parents live happily and safely thereon.

Such real stories are sad and terrifying yet satisfying because criminals are punished for their heinous crimes. It is a successful show and I watch it as regularly as I can. Keep up the good work, the team of the show.
