Preeti has been a close pal since donkey's years. She is a Masters in Social Work and is currently heading a research team for micro-insurance in some remote village in Rajasthan. This is what one of her team members related:
" We had gone for some research on tribals in Jharkhand. We needed their blood samples for analysis. When we told a group of tribals we met that we we need their blood samples for a research they got angry. Our attempts at explanation infuriated them and they tied us to a tree! We didnt know whether to thank God for saving our lives or curse being tied to a tree!!
To decide on our fate the great tribal leader was called in. After listening to our explanation he called us vile names saying that we were criminals! Out of sheer frustration someone said that if we are criminals why doesnt he call the police? So the police was called and finally God took mercy on us and the policemen assured the tribals that these 'criminals' would be punished for the 'crime'. We changed our area of research."
