Tomorrow is "Atukal Pongala" - the biggest festival out here. Also, this is the largest women gathering for a religious purposein the entire world. This even host fifteen lakh women around the city for a whole day and this unique distinction recorded the name of my town in Guinness Book of world records.This year, we are anticipating 20 lakhs of women. So, my home and neighbourhood is all set to receive women all over the world. I could see all the national and international media circles roaming around. I need to secure a pass to get into my home tomorrow otherwise only women are allowed to get out of the home for the day. Amazing, right - ever heard of this festival?
Yesterday I have been to temple and found two women getting special preference. Our attention didnot divert as we were focussing on Devi Darshan. Today morning news paper featured Miss India Parvathy Omanakkuttan's visit to the temple. Oh, so it was she who got some special attention. I remember standing besides Aishwarya Rai also here when she came to the city for her debut movie "Iruvar". But in Atukal Temple, our attention is on Devi only.
Morning my friend Jay woke me up and took me to the nearby river for a bath. I was a bit reluctant "How to bath in river and that too exposing bare chest, women might come ---"
His answer was amazing "There are only a few people in this locale who didnot see you naked, dont worry"
Ahhh ----- I am returning to innocence again! Exploring the paths through which I have crawled as a baby ------
Day after tomorrow driving 100 KM to see my grandpa and grandma! They are excited to see me my baby! Meeting of generations ---- God, how beautiful it is going to be!
Next day want to ride to Kanyakumari which is one and a half hours ride from my home - I wonder, why I never feel like riding there often when I spend 22 years in this city! I want to see the meeting of oceans, explore Vivekananda Rock, meditate there for an hour ---
Honestly dont feel like coming back. A retreat at this stage was much required. A return to innocence ------
