This was a good Novel to Read (True Story). The story happen in 1900 unified India ,It starts at Dacca .A young married zamindar dies at Darjeeling, while on a visit along with his wife and brother in law .The body was cremated and rites were performed, After 12 years a Sanyasi appears at Dacca and many locals and his family believes he is the"dead Young zamindar".A legal battle starts over this issue-his wife was not willing to accept him and the case was fought at Dacca District court, the at Calcutta High court, and finally at Privy council at London.Very eminent lawyers appeared from both sides and lots of evidences presented and examined. Many cross examination of witnesses takes place,A great story and Partha Chatterjee has well penned it I got this book from Flipcart.com
