The case had some scratches now from the shop somehow.. Well after 2 weeks, the power went out again... After 30 Min's the power came back and well, my PC turned off! Well took it back to the shop and got the same, well this has on site same day service etc etc etc.. They forgot that it took 3 weeks the last time to get this 1 day same day onsite service to get it fixed. Well this time it took almost 2 months to get it back. I went in to the shop every week to ask about it. I got every excuse including the service guy had a baby.
I was mistaken that only women were capable of having babies until now. The UPS when I got it back was pretty much destroyed. Scratches everywhere, stickers all peeled off, I had barely used this for 1 month and never moved it so even the bottom bush was like new when I gave it to them. Well I said it was just rs 5000 down the drain. I surely cant use it with my PC now. Or the TV... Maybe I could use it with just the monitor. Well another 2 weeks goes by and the power goes off..
The monitor was off and the PC was connected to the numeric... Later on the power came on but there was this burning smell in the room so I knew pretty much what had happened... Took it back to the shop, told them its now almost 10 months and I barely had used the UPS for 2 month. I want to get this unit replaced by a new one... So they called the distributor or dealer or who ever and sent it in. Said next week... The main reason I wanted a new unit was because, when the thing was not blowing up when the power came back on, the very loud annoying beeper would get stuck and wake up the entire neighborhood.
No way to turn off the beeper unless I power down the UPS, which also means shutting down the PC. Why would I want a UPS if I was going to shut down the PC every time the power went out? After 3 or so months I got a call that the UPS had come back in... Instead of replacing it with a new unit, they had repaired it again. The beeper problem still exists. So the unit is unusable for any purpose now. I use it as a weight to hold down the desk. You want to take the chance that it will blow up your 25000 TV? What would you use it for???? I have used 5 other UPS, one every year... Thats about the life of a UPS in this environment. But all the others lasted until the day they blew up. None of them blew up anything else except themselves.
And none of the others had so many reliability problems. I say PowerCom should not say they are #2, unless they are counting backwards but I can say with absolute certainty that this company will Never ever be #1. Heck they cant even be a distant #2. Buy APC.. They are #1 for a reason.
