Part 5 - Belgaum and Goa (Part 1)

This time, I will share with you my ultimate bike experience, and I will be writing it in two parts, the first part contains, excursions near Belgaum (en route to Goa) and second part will include approx 150KM bike ride from Belgaum to Goa and experiences of Goa itself.

I went Belgaum around 3 times, the reason, my cousin studied there. This time, we planned for some excursions, just 2 of us, to visit the Amboli Waterfall, and that too on bike. Amboli is around 45 Kms from Belgaum, and we are totally aware of the monsoons. We took our bike (and no bags and all that), and started our journey towards Amboli waterfalls. It marks the starting of the Ghats towards Goa. We were totally unaware of what was waiting for us there. We just reached Amboli Village, and suddenly rain started falling heavily, so we stopped at a petrol pump. When it stopped, we started again. and guess what, we are not able to see anything, just 5-10 steps further and all is gone, so thick fog was there, but we know, that from here the Ghat will start and the snakey roads as well (my cousin used to go Goa on bikes before) But we are totally blind, nothing was there, na banda na bande ki jaat, well, we went slowly, and entered the Ghat roads, on one side we are aware that mountain is there but on the other side (what was there!) nothing can be seen of the valley (it feels like directly you came on top of a mountain while walking on land). We somehow managed to reach Amboli. Many people are enjoying the waterfalls. We, instead of going there, just roam around, and you know what, we discover a secret waterfall. That was too risky to stand there and watch, one step further and...., also rain started again and you have to be aware of the floods in the mountains.

Then after that we tried a new road. That road sign was showing that some "Mahadevgarh Point" was there, we thought that today is some special day, why not to try some more adventures. And we did went that way. Let me tell you personally, that road was total deserted (only a point is there and ends by a valley, no village!), around 5 km long that road was, and we came on a foggy afternoon. My mobile photos shows time as 1-2 PM, and we are not able to see (yes not beyond 5-10 steps). We both are totally spooked out. I started reciting Hanuman Chalisa. We even don't know what was there (My cousin told me that he came to know by some sources that there is a Bhutiya Haveli, well..) We did visited that point, valley was invisible, but that journey was one of my best journey ever, totally soaked in rain, going on foggy mountains, and deserted roads. We did try one more road (that was a Chauraha!), but came back midway, actually our bike was stopped by itself in front of a bhutiya tree, so.... My experience with Belgaum excursions en-route to Goa was terrifying, and very spookey.... We called it 'the Belgaum 1920 journey'.
