hi! I wish all on mouthshut a happy Holi.
I went to Hyderabad/Secunderabad my home city for the Holi. Although I did not play colours as it was a friend's marriage, I met a lot of friends. Some after several years, Some other's whose names I have forgotten . It was a great feeling, I thought this Holi is a success.
My home has a custom of making Puran Poli (all Marathis must be aware). The puran poli is a favourite food of mine, and its taken with lots of Ghee. This puran poli for lunch makes us sometimes very dizzy, and that exactly what happened after I went home yesterday. The lunch was at the marriage function, so it was evening when I could touch P Poli and from 6- 45 till 945 I slept like a log and got up only because I had to catch the train back to Bhadrachalam at 1045 PM.
Playing colours and having puran poli for lunch made us sleep peacefully during the early summer afternoon in our student days. I was not aware of the reason this custom is made at our place. But the way I slept and was refreshing with the sleep I realised that the reason the forefathers made this custom.
So, I await for the next holi so that I can play colour and have the Puran Poli once again and that refreshing sleep!
