Lahiri: -If they are adopting these policies to do cost-cutting, then I think the best option will be to use LiveMeeting 2007, where you can make radio calls.
Seema: -but, if a person is not logged in to that software, then you will be unable to call that person. In OCS 2007, if you keep yourself in the “Do not disturb” mode, then no one can make any calls to you.
Deben:-Why don’t we make the settings in such a fashion that, whenever you log in to your workstation through your network ID and password, automatically, it will show in the OCS 2007, that you are online, and you cannot change your status to busy, appear offline or do not disturb mode. Then, you can easily contact everyone, by the radio calls, rather than calling them through telephone, thereby reducing the cost of phone bills.
Jhumpa:-Yes, I have heard that there are lots of new features in the Microsoft OCS 2007, but my workstation is under the supervision of a GDC and there they have made a rule that, you cannot install OCS 2007 in your machine. You have to use communicator by entering a url in the Internet Explorer. Net result, there you will not get any option to make radio calls and also in 70% cases, due to Internet connections problem, your chat messages do not get delivered most of the time.

Seema: -What are you saying? We have received around 3-4 mails stating that, OCS 2007 have been installed in each and every workstations of this company. But, it is not the case. Hmm… they are just taking false credits.

Arindam:-Yes, yes, they will close the ticket by saying that, arrey, why do you need to install that OCS 2007 in your workstation, you can easily chat with another person, by using that url only. On the other hand, senior managers will suggest you to do radio calls from communicator instead of phone calls. But, if LiveMeeting and OCS 2007 are not installed in your machine, how can you make that call.

Arindam: -You cannot do cost cutting, by keeping sands on your hand. Sands are bound to fall from your hand. Here expenses are like sands only. It will be better if you consider expenses as waters kept in a vessel and the tap will act as the controller for the water falling from that vessel.
