Industrialisation was a revolution for India and with it came many new technologies and growth prospects. Modernity spread in every aspect of the society. Education, Science, Lifestyle, Food and of course the economy were influenced by the same.
Marketing is a big thing for any company. Earlier small vendors in individual shops sold all kind of items. A major breakthrough was in the industry of lifestyle when malls and multiplexes were constructed. Mall is a one-stop place for entertainment, food courts, grocery purchase, apparel and any and every kind of dressing purchase. Even companies are making their offices in Malls these days. People flock malls for fun and being together.
Though branded clothes are often a costly proposition, yet they give an insight into the latest trend of fashion. With multiplexes being a part of the malls, one can watch latest movies in malls. Generally, the same floor also houses the food courts, which offer all varieties of food and deserts. The concept of malls is a sure success. The slightly negative aspect is the higher cost.
When malls came the business of many individual shops suffered. Many had to close down their shops as Big Bazaar, Foodrite, Food Bazaar, attracted the masses. This was because of their better quality of food and their reasonable rates.
There is a social strata that buy clothes and daily groceries only from malls, while there is also a strata that visits them only for fun, strolling and being together with friends and family.
With such thoughts, malls are an essential signia of any city’s growth today. A city which has no malls is considered backward, nowadays.
I would conclude that malls have been a big hit in India with its minor negatives.
