Just wanted to watch this movie, as I don't intend to re-read the book in the immediate future.. The strong emotions and charm of the book is not captured well in the movie... Movie is a bland version of the novel.. Ofcourse, the limited time of approx 2 hrs isn't enough to capture the essence of the book in its totality...
The kids have acted well, but my fave in the movie was the dad character... In the latter half, (in US where he falls sick) his acting is just as how one would expect it to be while reading the book. Even the lady who plays Soraya was apt for the role...
The narration and hard hitting lines in the book, are way too impactful, but all charm is lost as only some parts of the movie is in English... (dialogues straight from the book)
The struggles to get a visa for Hassan's kid, Soraya-Amir's ordeal to get a child are totally omitted in the movie, and these were pretty significant ones,.
Lastly, Afghanistan looks beautiful!! And this is the one thing I inferred from the movie and not from the book...
