I like to trek in Himalayas. At least 16 years ago I trekked to Kalpeshwar in Garwal Himalayas. Here I reminisce some events which are still fresh in my mind.

We trekked from Helang to Kalpeshwar. We decided to keep all our extra burden here and walk freely. At Helang a small shop owner Banshi kept all our luggages and assured us again and again that all our luggages would remain intact, don't worry, and you need not pay anything for this. Banshi said,"Even if you keep your baggage beside the road, no one will touch them at all". We know mountain people are very hones and simple. Naturally we believed Banshi. When we reached Kalpeshwar we all were very tired, thirsty and hungry.

As during our 20 day trek at various places in Hiamalayas we always ate bread, I was very eager to eat rice, but we got no hotel to eat rice. Anyway we reached Kalpeshwar and paid our regard to the two Saints and sat for rest. One of the saints repeatedly asked us to have rice and dal.We were hesitant. But for His cordiality and repeated appeal we could not refuse. He cooked himself for us and served us like a mother. We all took enough rice and dal with our hearts content. After that before our departure when we wanted to pay some money, he very affectionately said you are far away form home and need money in a foreign land. So keep the money with you. Go home and my blessing will remain always with you.
