This sunday on Aug 15th India is celebrating the 63rd independence day. But instead of feeling elated I am having mixed feelings. True we are having progress. Our condition is far better from that of parents and grandparents. True we are no longer slaves of British. But are we seeing the other side of coin. The caste system which our freedom figters want to eliminate from this land is rearing its ugly head in all forms. Our corrupt politicians are adding fuel to the fire for creating vote banks. Caste based reservation is the menace of India and no where in this world we will find people fighting to get into backward caste.
Caste system also plays havoc in the recent Khap honour killings. Dalits are still untouchables in many parts of India. This is one grim scenario
Second grim scenario is we are a soft power. Nobody is afraid of our law as they know it will take years and years for judiciary to punish a criminal. Even if they are punished there are numerous ways they can appeal and counter appeal and stay out of jails. Then we have the so called human right activists who speaks only for the terrorists and not for their victims. Agreed Sohrabuddin and Azad were killed. But what about the rights of people whom they killed. For India to become really free we have to get rid of this pseudo human right activists. Criminal has to fear punishment. Real peace exists when our neighbours know we will fight back not just do some rheortic of peace talk. Attack is the best self defense
Another major problem is our population which is uncontrolled at this time. Tough measures are the need of the hour. Denail of benefits or reduction in benefits for the family with more than 2 kids is the only way to control this. For every additional child more than 2 the family has to be penalized by not giving free rations, reservation in government job etc..No amount of awareness is going to work here as there are religious gurus who encourages human production. Government should not back from this move fearing religious backlash. Unless this population is controlled no amount of progress can bring benefits.
Finally last but not the least as Indains let us feel for India just like our freedon fighters. Let us inculcate the patriotism in our kids. We need a lot of patriotic people for this country to rise to its past glory. For once let us say Vandemataram keeping aside all our caste and religious divisions.
