In the first season of IPL, held in India in 2008, Deccan Chargers performed very badly, hence the expectations from them were not phenomenal for the second season.
But what we saw in the second season has been an astounding turnaround of the team's performance. Captaincy was handed over to Adam Gilchrist, while VVS Laxman, the captain of the first season appeared in the first few games and was dropped as his performance was not up to the mark.
Message was clear, perform else get fired. And we witnessed that Deccan Chargers performed as a unit and stood focused from start to end.
Adam Gilchrist lead his troops well throughout the tournament and held his nerves in defending an achievable total of 144 runs in the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Full credit to him for taking his team from no one to the status of SOMEONE. Well done.
Congratulations to Deccan Chargers for winning the IPL tournament.
