WILL ANUSHKA SCORE WITH NH10?
Actors often turn producers but that happens rarely with actresses, especially those in the younger lot. Anushka Sharma took the plunge and decided to produce NH10, in which she also plays the lead role. It’s also co-produced by Eros International and Phantom Films(Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl) and directed by Navdeep Singh, who made Manorama Six Feet Under. The trailer of the film is superb and nicely depicts the premise of the film – a road trip going wrong for a young couple. Neil Bhoopalam and Darshan Kumaar(of Mary Kom fame) also star in the movie.
The film reportedly has been made on a reasonable budget and the excitement is there for the film. Hence, it can turn out to be a huge hit, despite the violent and adult theme. It was to release last week but couldn’t after Censor Board denied the film certification. Anushka and the other producers put a tough, dignified fight and finally the film was passed, albeit with minor cuts. Nevertheless, they still have all the time to excel at the box office, till April 3 when Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and Furious 7 will hit theatres.
However, if the film fails to impress audiences, it can vanish from theatres in one week itself. And this can be disastrous for exhibitors as the films releasing in the next 2 weeks aren’t exciting and there’s also the World Cup final.
