LOTS AND LOTS HOPES FROM ‘RAB NE BANA DI JODI’!
Post-Dostana last month, some 8 films released but all of them failed to set the BO on fire. The business is already thanda due to the recession and the Mumbai terror attacks hugely affected the BO collections of the films. The distributors and cinema theatres have also suffered losses. And therefore, everyone is looking forward to Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ) with lots of hopes and expectations!
RNBDJ has Shahrukh Khan in a leading role and is directed by Aditya Chopra, the same guy who made Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the longest running film of Indian cinema! SRK’s new look is being ridiculed by some but it has also managed to create hype for the film. Two of its songs ‘Haule Haule’ and ‘Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai’ have already impressed the people a lot.
What makes RNBDJ a must watch is the SRK-Chopra Combo. All films of Shahrukh with Chopras have proved to be excellent films-Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Mohabbatein, Saathiya, Veer Zaara and Chak De! India. Due to this chief factor, a lot of expectations are riding on RNBDJ.
Business is largely affected since the last 2 weeks due to terror attacks. Even films like ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye’, Maharathi, Dil Kabaddi etc from which expectations were somewhat high failed to attract a huge crowd. Multiplex and single screen owners are hopeful that RNBDJ will take an electrifying start at the BO and will surely end this ‘sudden dry period’ at the BO. I hope the same!
RNBDJ is also a great chance for Yash Raj Films to show that they are still capable of churning out nice entertainers. Barring Bachna Ae Haseeno, the rest of their films this year (Tashan, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and Roadside Romeo) bombed miserably at the BO and also didn’t impress much of the audiences. With RNBDJ, they can redeem their prestige and respect.
Let’s hope this one film brings a smile on the faces of everyone-multiplex owners, its producer/director and most importantly, the audiences! And are you as excited for this film as me? What do you think-will the film rock? Do let me know!
