Early morning news announced that today an international event called "Earth Hour" is being held the world over! It is an event mainly started in Sydney, that urges people to switch off all electrical appliances and their lights for just one hour. This event aims to promote energy conservation and create awareness by using this event as an example for reduced carbon emissions.
The event is promoted by the WWF Australia, the first Earth Hour was held on 31st march 2007. This year it is arranged to be held on 29th march 2008, which is today, between 8pm and 9pm.
