I am not such an avid bird watcher, but where are all the sparrows in Chennai gone? However, I did stumble upon an article which emphatically stated that they are definitely extinct. I was in for a surprise. Sweating it out at the ration shop on Portius road, I was in fact distracted by the flight of a bird hovering in and out of the ivy creeper and would you believe it, it was the humble sparrow, a rare sight perhaps in Chennai. I traced my way back home with my ration and also the memory of the now elusive home bird, where Chennai is concerned.
