~* Art Of Bargaining*~

By: confusedsoul | Posted Mar 23, 2010 | Direct Dil Se | 371 Views

This post is dedicated to the unique art which is slowly becoming extinct because of the rise of shops, supermarkets, malls etc.,

The Art I am referring to is Bargaining.

There are a very few people who are good at it. The ones who involve themselves in this art derive a unique pleasure when he/she is successful. Reduction by even a penny is a great achievement.

To be good at Bargaining u should master the Art of Convincing.

For instance: You convince the vendor that the tomatoes you are buying are not worth that price. Or telling him that the bandi wala a mile away is selling it for a cheaper rate. At times the response of the vendor might be rude…. he might be adamant, he will ask you to go to the other shop and re-check it. After which you are convinced that he is not cheating you. You now try for reduction by at least a rupee or a two.

Keeping such customers in view the vendors at times add on to the actual price so that they make their customer happy by reducing the price and they gain the right profit as well.

At times using Bhayya, aunty, Didi, Uncle might hurt their ego… so form these relations at your own risk.

The phrases often used in Bargaining

‘Itna zayada khareeda hai kuch toh kam karo bhai’

‘Hum toh regular customer hai… koi aur shop jatai he nahi seeda yahan he atai hain’

‘Rate toh kam nahi karre aap thodi quantity uper se dalo’

‘Ghar walon se bhi same rate letai bhai’

A good bargainer bargains more at the shop which is though small but has the board ‘Fixed Rates’

I went shopping with my nephew who never experienced bargaining before. He is nine years old and lives in gulf… He saw that I was bargaining...He observed everything and after we reached home he asked me….

‘Kya tum gareeb ho? ‘

Nahi… kyon aise pooch rahai ho?

He replied… ‘Tum harr shop per paise kam karo kam karo bolri thee na isiliye..’

I was speechless...!! :P

Now You tell me...

Did you ever try Bargaining? Were you successful ?

Or

Are you responsible for killing this great Art?? ;-)

Have a great Day!
