I am describing an imaginary situation here below and I will also ask you a simple question on that. Some options are also given , you have to choose which option you would like to adopt. I request all MSians to co-operate please and give your comment.

One fine morning, our scientist and technocrats have announced that they have discovered a huge oil and natural gas reserve just under the Andaman & Nicober Island. The size of the reserve is almost twice the reserve of entire middle eastern countries and is sufficient to take care the energy need of our country for next 100 years.

However, to extract this huge reserve of oil and natural gas , we have to disturb the ecology of the area in an irreparable manner. Entire land and water of the area will undergo a drastic change. The reserve forest will be almost destroyed. Most important of the changes is that we have to relocate the endangered primitive tribes “Jarowa” from their native place. It is possible that they may not withstand this change and become extinct within a short span of time. The sleepy island will become a petrochemical hub if we want that oil and gas and if so, we have to face the consequences also.

Now we have two options before us:

  1. Forget the oil and gas and leave the island with its primitive inhabitants “Jarwa” as it is.

  2. We will do everything to extract the oil and gas come what may and we are ready to sacrifice anything for this.

MSians are requested to comment which option they would like to adopt..
