36 Police personnel including one SP rank officer were killed in single go by the Naxalites in Chattishgarh. It is stereo type news generally does not command any attention. They were not fighting ISI /Pakistan sponsored terrorist or they were nit defending the country from foreign invasion. Hence we can afford to keep ourselves busy with share market, inflation, corrupt politicians, bollywood, Hollywood, cricket, Football with anything without given even a second of thought “what is the actual problem?” We can side step the issue as it does not affect affluent of cities and only people belong to remote villages and unfortunate policemen are affected. There is no dearth of policemen in this country as another set will join if present set die fighting extremism. It is better to die fighting than starving at home.

We so called educated , middle class citizens are thinking this may continue for ever and we will continue to live inside an imaginary world of satisfaction which is grossly unreal. We may think it is a problem between Police force and those poor villagers of remote villages and some armed rookies gone astray. Unfortunately our Government also thinks that it is a law and order problem where as it is a deep rooted social problem. It can never be tackled brute force alone that has to be accompanied by all round development at grass root level. In past 60 years since independence, whatever development we have seen they are city / town centric and targeted for urban population. Developments meant for villages remained confined within rich farmers, rich businessman of the villages and have never percolated down the lowest strata of the society. Marginal labourers and farmers have never got the benefit of any development scheme as they were sucked up long before they reach down upto them. Since the starting of Panchayati Raj, people of those parties have been benefitted who were in power at any particular time. This means at any given time , there is a section of people who feel deprived, marginalised, neglected and out of place. The number of people in this section is increasing day by day. There are other reasons also which are helping the increase of number of people in this section.

One reason is delayed justice. Justice delayed is justice denied. Lack of justice delivery system is driving the poor hapless population towards some other body who are giving instant justice to the perpetrator. This instant justice is very appealing to the common uneducated mass and they are made to believe that they are protected from any injustice and they can depend on naxals for justice.

Another reasons is lack of basic infrastructure in our rural areas. No road, no sanitation, no health service nothing is existing. The existence of Govt is only through some sign boards and dilapidated defunct offices.

One reason is rampant corruption in all sphere of life. Politicians, Govt. servants, party workers, NGO ( not all) all are highly corrupt.

Last but not the least reason is the negative side of market driven economy. In market driven economy, the formula is “Survival of the fittest”. That means unfit will meet its natural death. However when number of unfit people is much much higher than fit people, then there is a chance that unfit will make the fit people unfit by force. This is what exactly happening in our country through naxal movement.

Only way out that we can not leave unfit people to their fate, we have to carry them with us otherwise they will consume us by their sheer number.

It is high time and we must start thinking..
