Story:

A daughter who nobody has heard of. An old billionaire's daughter. Troy Phelan's daughter. Who inherited the bulk of her father's fortune. {Some people have all the luck} Her father who dies in the first few pages of the book, and leaves us to cope with a furious legal battle which is dotted with a few details and an pretty long and incredibly tiresome journey through the winding waters of the Amazon river.

If you have to write a thesis on the dangers of the Amazonian water and the chances of finding a single white girl in the midst of the aggressive natives, this is the book for you! For the rest of us, who have loved John Grisham's thrilling legal battles, angry lawyers, confused juries, run-down law firms and bankrupt insurance companies, this is not an exciting, if an extremely painful read.

I suppose the only factor that kept me turning the pages of this book and taking it in word after word was the promise that all the earlier John Grisham books I'd read had held - a promise of adventure and thrill. Unfortunately, slowly, my hope turned into desperation till the book drove me out of patience and I threw it aside. But I'm an optimist and I picked it up a few minutes later to find out if the story held any water.

Unfortunately it held too many holes and gaps too. Sorry, Grisham lovers, this is extremely difficult for me to say, being a Grisham fan, but this is not the signature of the true master.
