We trusted Medanta with the life of my father-in-law, Mr. Raju Jagtiani, and it turned out to be the most devastating mistake. What unfolded was not just a medical emergency, it was a sequence of avoidable delays, carelessness, and systemic neglect that led to a completely preventable death.
After undergoing a stenting procedure under Dr. Tarun Grover, my father-in-law began showing clear signs of neurological distress incoherent speech, confusion, and restlessness as early as 5 PM the same day. Yet, no neuroimaging was done until 10 AM the next morning a 15-17 hour delay that is unacceptable by any medical standard. In the case of a suspected brain haemorrhage, CT or MRI should be done within 1 hour of symptom onset.
The ICU team was shockingly unresponsive and dismissive. They brushed off the symptoms as normal post-surgery behavior. There was no active neurological monitoring, no escalation, no neuro consult through the night. In fact, despite the clear red flags, they continued dual antiplatelet therapy through the night potentially worsening an already critical internal bleed.
By the time the MRI was finally done the next morning, it was too late for any life-saving intervention. My father-in-law never regained consciousness. The opportunity to act was lost because nobody in the ICU cared enough to act urgently.
Let me also mention this: Medanta has some of the highest ICU security protocols not for patient safety, but perhaps so that families cannot see what really goes on behind closed doors. The lack of visibility, the cold approach of the staff, and the stone-faced silence we were met with when we raised concerns it all points to a system that protects itself, not the patient.
As for Dr. Tarun Grover, there was zero follow-through post-surgery. No proactive monitoring, no engagement with the family, and no timely response when things were clearly going wrong. For someone of his stature, this level of detachment and inaction is deeply disturbing.
If you are considering Medanta or Dr. Tarun Grover, I urge you ask the hard questions. Don't mistake reputation for responsibility. What happened to us can happen to anyone. We lost a loved one to their indifference. Don't let it happen to yours.
