I recently did the Kailash Mansarovar trip with them. Was sold to me as "luxury" but it was substandard. Food was horrible - same fare every day (see photo 2 - from the night - same good next day for breakfast). We were eating in parking garages. No butter to go with the bread. At times food was not ven cooked properly. E.g. First day of parikrama of 15km, our packed lunch was a sandwich made of 1 tsp.of jam, (no butter) ( see 1st photo), 1 apple and a juice tetrapack. 2nd day of 22kms of parikram, 1 apple, 1 snall Oreo cookie package, 1 Snickers bar (which was squashed and seemed out of date) and 1 tetrapack juice and when we arrived at the hotel, we got half cooked Kichdi! Some "hotel" stops had no water and no provision was made to provide water in buckets to wash up or to brush our teeth. Even though better hotels were available- we got the worse of the lot - agent was cutting corners wherever he could so that he could pocket the extra money. Moreover he was very rude and abnoxious. We had delays and no one from Shikhar called to check if I was OK. We were just handed over to the local agent in Nepal and his staff was aggressive and almost assaulted me on the last day because I complained about the disgusting, dirty and smelly hotel that was given to us. I would not trust or recommend them. Even after complaining about the horrific living conditions and the food - Shikhar has done nothing to compensate.
