'Kavyanjali' reminds me of Jane Austen novels.I wouldn't say it has the calibre to be in the list of Pride and Prejudice or Emma or Sense and Sensibility but the party freaks of the serial do make me think- Is it treading on the lines of a Jane Austen plot?Alas! Am I actually talking about a 'plot' in 'Kavyanjali'?Does it have one?
Well, when it all began, the so-called 'plot' was the typical MIL-DIL clash over the son and the shocking reveal of MIL's true 'colours'.Then followed a verbal war between the ideal DIL and the manipulative MIL.Sandwiched between them was 'the seemingly wise but stupid underneath', 'crazy lover turned jealous husband' and last but not the least 'who badly needs to learn touch typing so that both sides of his brain start functioning....' Kavya Nanda!
To be honest, the serial did not disappoint me in the start as it was going on in the lines of a typical 'E-serial' ( courtesy to one of the mouthshut members who used the term and which I liked a lot)and I was enjoying the effervescence of the entire family setup. The comical Romola( I think she was created with a vengeance by Ektaji to recreate the magic of 'Junagad 'Arroro''(ouch..... I forgot her name!) of 'Kyunki Saas....')
Whenever Romola came on screen there was this lilting song in the background 'RRRomolllaahh'.I like the histrionics of Romolla(whom I fondly remember as the Kittie of Karamchand) but that doesn't mean I prefer the comedy in 'E-serials'-they stink like a fungus-grown cake!Coming back to the song, gladly I find the song less frequently appearing nowadays........probably Romolla fails to make the desired impact?
A whole lot of new and unnecessary characters have appeared of late in the story like Pammy,Dhruv and his dad....I have a serious doubt that the director has lost his plot in the mire of characters. He or she is having a tough time contemplating how the serial should proceed.
Whether they have a baby in the family or a wedding or a divorce, the Nandas are quite particular about throwing a 'party'.They throw a party almost everyday.Anjali never misses a party in their house even though she is no longer their 'bahu', she puts up appearances that she doesn't like to attend the party, despite, she attends, and on the pretext of fulfilling wishes of all the 'deedas' and 'bebes' of her knowledge. In the process, the director gets another episode to drag the serial and the script writer gets a whole lot of 'steamy' dialogues to coin!
So it goes on and on....... the parties and the confrontations and occasional visits to the theme parks.....and to justify its 'soapy'existence a dab of emotions and tears and shouts of revenge. Its a pity that four members in the household know the horrible truth about Nitya Nanda, inspite of that none of them manage to expose her!
THAT IS QUITE AN EVIDENCE OF THE AMOUNT OF GRAY MATTER THESE CHARACTERS AND THEIR CREATORS HAVE IN THEIR 'FROTH-FILLED' HEADS!
So long as there are people to watch( like me)go on........make money...........honey!
