Never break a heart is the tagline for this Dharmesh Dharshan directed film starring Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty with a guest appearance by Mahima Chaudary. The film is about Dev (Sunil Shetty) and Anjali (Shilpa Shetty) who are in love. Dev is an intense man who is an illegitamate child and for this reason is hot tempered as he feels the world has been cruel to him. On meeting his mother Anjali promises her she will never leave her son and takes Dev to her parents to introduce him as the man she wants to marry.

When her parents see that Dev, who has no money or status of his own to match their own wealth and after seeing his arrogance they throw him out of the house leaving Anjali with the decision. Marry Dev and kill her parents in shame or marry the man they have chosen for her. Anjali does as her parents ask her to and leaves Dev, a broken man and on hearing his mother dies. Meanwhile Anjali marries Ram (Akshay Kumar) a wealthy businessman who is the complete opposite from Dev, calm, spiritual and well mannered.

Initially, Anjali is reluctant to share any relationship with her husband but slowly she sees him for the man he is when he stands up for her against his family. Just as the two embark on their happy married life and celebrate their first anniversary Dev returns now a multi millionarie businessman with his business partner. Pooja (Mahima Chowudary) convinced that now he has status and wealth Anjali will accept him in her life However, Anjali tells Dev that she will never leave her husband and so begins Dev's journey to destruct Ram and make him lose everything.

Meanwhile Pooja nurtures a silent love for Dev and Anjali falls pregnant which finally makes Dev realise that Anjali will never be his. In the end, Anjali and Ram move on with their life and Pooja introduces Dev to her own father as the man she wants to marry. The film had a phenomenal soundtrack songs like "Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein" "Na Na Karte Pyar" "Aksar Is Duniya Mein" "Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hain Dil Se" and the last qawali by Nusrat Fath Ali Khan "Dulhe Ka Sehra" which all added to the curiousity of the film.

Although the film was not expected to create much magic at the box office when released it became a surprise hit and went on to be a blockbuster film running for months on end Sunil Shetty gave perhaps one of his all time best performances in this film I was watching it last night and the scene where his mother dies and the scene where Anjali leaves him real good acting! Also, I think it is one film (along with Phir Milenge) that I shall remember Shilpa Shetty for not only does she look stunning but her performance was worth noticing too.

Loved every song in this film but my personal fav has to be "Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se, Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Tumse" aaa what a track! I agree about the "Dulhe Ka Sehra" track Eyez...I had to try hard to not shed a few tears in the song picturisation you can really see the pain Shilpa goes through in the song. Akki is a favourite with the Darshan camp after films like Jaanwar, Dhadkan, Dosti, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Andaaz, Talaash, Bewaffa, They have had other films like Raja Hindustani, Lootere, Ajay, Mela.
