Contd.... 6. Getz Cabin space is neatly designed. I wish SX4 had the same designer. All small things go into different slots. CD holder, Coin Holder, Bottle holder, long slot under steering. If you dont buy a 2-Din Audio system, then you get space even below the Audio System. Smooth Blower Control...s. Tiltable steering. My usage is also similar to yours. Most of the time I will use it for going to office (approx 20km/day). Weakly twice or thrice use it for shopping/outing with family. Once in quarter use it to go to for long trips (approx. 600km). Since most of the usage is within city it doesnt make any difference. But with Getz 1.3L I will have smoother ride and better milage. Since I have a new born @ home, I dont want to go for the thrills as that of Palio GTX now. Note that they have refined latest 1.6 engine for more mileage (?) so I did not get the same pocket rocket feeling with new Palio 1.6L. Finally I love both the cars, but my priorities now demand Getz 1.3L.Read More

Hi CRPP, 1. There is no major trouble in Palio except the dash board rattel sound, one of dual horns konking offnow and then which no body could resolve. However on the service part though TATA claims to be more effective in servicing the FIAT vehicles, I dont see much enthu/proactiveness from ...the ground staff. 2. With my driving at Bangalore, my worst milage in city with Palio GTX was 7.2 KMPL & the best was 9.8 KMPL. The best on long tours was 15.6 KMPL (while maintained on 80 KMPH). Getz gave me 10.66 (on first run) after my first tank full. Hopefully gives more after little more usage and once the engine settles down. 3. Engine wise 1.6L is the best engine I would say (Whether you use it harshly or smoothly). But after driving Getz, somehow felt that 1.3L seems to be more refined & less noisey. If you say Palio is 100% on Outside Noise filtering, then Getz is around 90%. Ride is much smoother in Getz than Palio. Cornering is equally comfirtable. 4. There is no noticeable difference in effectiveness of AC. But I had to clean AC ducts (costs 4K each time) twice in 5 years with Palio. Somehow one of the blowers use to stop working. 5. Since I havent done long trips yet I cannot comment on that. But I could notice a considerable lag in third gear of Getz, where I could continue in 3rd gear in Palio 1.6. But this was known compromize I have opted for. The relief is ultrasmooth gear shift in Getz so I dont feel tired in changing to 2nd for speed. Palio GTX has hard suspension compared to Getz. At the same speed breaker my Palio (with 170mm Ground clearace) use to touch the body. However Getz (with 160mm GC) and longer wheelbase never touched. Surprize!!! 6. Hi Ramesh, Usual things to check before delivery of the car is the month/Year of manufacturing on the engine. Scratches on the body if any. All the electrical connections (atleast the bulbs, music system and the engine check etc). Tool kit, spare wheel. If possible drive a bit and see if there any problem with wheel alignment. All the documents including the insurance papers, road tax etc. Also ensure that you get the emergency numbers from the dealer for both car and the battery.Read More

Hi Ramesh, as you have seen my analysis, I was also in the same boat as yours, then decided on Getz. My suggestion is if you could wait for 3 to 4 weeks then go for ABS version. Spending another 40K is worth the safety. About Diesel or Petrol: obviously diesel will be priced more approx. 7 lakhs (...purely my guess based on Verna costing). You require Diesel, if you are traveling more than 100km/Day otherwise don't suggest diesel as the overall cost (initial+maintenance) would be higher than petrol. My calculation for (my usage) Verna turned out to be 3 years petrol for Verna over diesel investment. About colors I prefer light colors for the reason of maintenance as small scratches with Bangalore traffic will not be shown. Otherwise Dark colors look better. Also note that Getz has wide plastic strips on bumpers and sides which in long run tend to fade out and look ugly unless you paint them with black. So I bought 'Real Earth' color.Read More

I found Getz to be more comfortable compared to Palio GTX @ bad roads. The ride on Getz @ bad roads reminds me of Scorpio. Palio GTX has much stiffer suspension as I could take sharp turns even at speeds of 100 to 120 kmph. Surprisingly Getz is almost 80% of Palio when it comes to sharp turns.

Yes it was tough to part with GTX. However the factors I considered are smooth ride bit more space, legroom at the back, reliable service and parts. All my family members are happy with ride comfort of the car so no complaints. Space wise since it accommodates more items into, it really feels more t...han Palio. eg.;my wife use to hate to keep the water bottles at feet in Palio. Initially I considered big car and looked at SX4 and Verna petrol and almost zeroed on Verna. However the insurance part and the road tax are hard pinch. Paying 30K per annum as insurance is as if paying 2.5K rent on car even if you don't use it. My usage of the car is mostly in the city and around 3000KM per annum outstation. So I decided on Getz. I had my thrills and spills on GTX (max speed drove 185kmph). Now with a new born girl at home I preferred more family oriented car which my wife can also drive and park in Bangalore traffic. To be frank I never thought I would buy Getz till I test drove it. I am sure with proper pricing Getz Diesel would be a best buy. (Launching in another month time as per showroom sources)Read More

Hi, I have bought Getz Prime 1.3L GLS on 23rd September. It was hard decision for me to part from Palio 1.6 GTX as I have used it for 5.5 years and all of my family really loved it. The things I like in Getz over Palio are: More Space Lot of cubby holes to keep most of the regu...Read more
