Until you get to the booking screen, the first time you try to book a ticket/hotel through yatra, you will get a pretty decent impression. But once you try to book, the impression changes pretty quickly:
Here's some of the biggest cons:
The price displayed all along, right before you actually make the purchase(from your bank portal), may be incorrect.and 80% of the time the actual price is higher than what you think it is. So, if you use yatra, be prepared to pay about 15-20% more than what you see.
If you want to book a hotel, STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM YATRA AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! They have a thing called "request" instead of "book" your hotel.which is yatra's way to say "we will charge you double the price displayed, make it possible to book after about 25 phone calls - 20 from the customer, 5 from us.and it'll take us about 2 weeks to do the booking. And, oh.by the way.if you do not live in India, you would want to know that our customer support in any other country is totally paralyzed.cannot see any reservations, and cannot help you with anything at all.thank you for using yatra.com"
If you are not physically in India, do not even think about using yatra.com. Their customer support in all other countries is a joke - and if you call them, they'll ask you to all customer support in India, because they cannot help you.
I switched to makemytrip.com after my first purchase on yatra. I'm not saying makemytrip's customer service is good(infact, it's pretty pathetic as well), but the online portal seems to work better. The prices stay consistent, the payment actually gets processed, and there's peace of mind!
I hope this review helps someone with their judgement on yatra.com!
Have a good yatra!:)
