Introducing FI - A Good thing.
Bringing the power down - Bad.
I'm not a power junkie but for the life of me, I cannot understand how a manufacturer like Yamaha can bring down both the power & torque a notch, in the name of better economy. All this while they are introducing FI - which has proven itself in delivering a smoother performing, higher efficiency engine without sacrificing on power or reliability. FI models from Bajaj and Hero Honda have proven this over the years. The only drawback in those cases were the complexity and cost of maintaining the FI system in top shape.
I do not understand the 6000 km cleaning window either - the cars in India ( heck even Yamaha's own R15) have been running FI tech for quite a long time now. So far as I'm aware, even the 'ultra sensitive' Europeans don't have such a requirement! ?
