*Windows Media player 11*

WMP 11 is an inbuilt player that is available in Vista and XP (SP3).

* General facts**Support:*

Software needs to be installed in a *genuine version* of windows XP or Vista. In vista and Windows XP SP3 this is the default player.

*Supported formats:*

WMV, DVD, AVI, MP3, ASF, MPEG, DVR-MS and musc CD playback.

*Features:*

Black design, stylish look, superb buttons adds comfort to users to use. Media library, a feature you can add *music, photos, videos* and make organized playback. No need to look over for files.just add the file and WMP will look after. There is an option to *normalize *volume too, when adding.

Supports *playlists and plug-ins* support.

Visualisations are reduced compared to WMP 10.But you can add the *WMP10 Enery bliss* visualization to add good looks.

*Now playing**:

Currently playing items are listed. Has Enhancements such as *Graphic equiliser, SRS WOW effects, Speed settings, video settings, Album art support, cross fading and auto volume leveling.etc

Other options include *Rip, Burn, device Synchncronize and media guide*.Media guide is functional for users with internet. It displays tracks online for buyers.

You can Rip and burn to **mp3** and **wma** formats.

Supports *skins*, users can find skins in internet and add them to the player.

*My Review:*

Till this day I use only media player to hear music and see videos. The only disadvantage I feel is that the supportive codecs are less , i.e, only few formats are supports. I use **K-lite codecs packs** ( Mega pack- Full install(lots of stuffs-with player) to support media player.I always *integrate the codecs* to my media player so as this is my default media player.

When comming to playback, the audio quality is best when compated to all other players (*real, VLC, Media player classic, BS player, Ashampoo media player, Win amp, Jet audio, Aimp, Cool player, J.River Media player, KM player etc*) Mine's is a simple **Creative 2.0 speaker**.All other players fail to give me my desired Bass effect.Only WMP 11 gives a good bass effect-*when graphic equiliser and wow effects enabled*.Jet audio gives good effects, but comparatively less than that of WMP.

Video playback is also excellent in WMP 11, till now I am able to play AXXO ripped movies in high quality audio/video.Its excellent to see movies.

I used to organize all my music files in media library, so I never search for files in my computer to search for the file and play.

Also this version supports to organise Photos and videos too-*like Media Center Edition.

Simple construction, so easy too use.The buttons are good looking and attractive moreover comfortable. That too the option *Windows**media toolbar* makes the player to me controlled from taskbar.

Everything has its positives and negatives. Comming to the negative things.....

Supportive *codecs are low* so you need a codecs pack to be enabling the format supports.

Single dvd can't be played*. But a whole DVD will play !

Also you *cant resize videos* manually, Only fit to video/fit to player, zooming:50%, 100%, 200%, full screen.

Plugins support is also poor.Need more plugins

Moreover, this **will install only in genuine Windows XP**.

*Annoying media guide**, connects to internet at background, so *reduces your browsing/download speeds*.To prevent this you have to select Work offline - each time.Or can use XP antispy to prevent conecting WMP to internet.

So in my experiences, i have **never faced any major problem

such as hanging, crashing etc**.So I trust all these days.I dont know why people always go for other softwares for playback. Here I tell you some basic bitter experiences by me with players.

*Real** - Annoying adds - if connected to net, confusing interface

*Ashampoo media playe**r - poor audio support

VLC Player** - consumes more ram, must configure audio whether it is 2.0, 5.1, Mono, Stereo.etc

*Winamp**: Good player, once ! Now a days the player size is big, and drinks off my ram.But good support.

*J.River Media center**: Excellent! but Shareware !

*KM player**: beware when uninstalling, this completely removes all associated file formats, leaving you all media files unidentified.

The beta version is worst , crashed my whole system.

Confusing, highly technical controls above all drinks ram eventhough if we select Perfomance option in install.

*Media player classic**: Best to use, good control, ease to use, but poor audio and video effects.

*Quicktime player**: Good ram drinker, My computer hangs a lot

*Mplayer**: Open source, excellent but drinks all of your ram.My PC notified me "Running out of low virtual memory"

So over all this **Windows Media Player 11 is the best**.I recomend it to use it with K-lite codecs pack. Tweak with XP-Antispy, add plugins and visualisations and enjoy !
