I had heard so much about Virgin Airlines that I suppose I expected too much. I flew economy - and felt it. The airline was very clear that upper class passengers are given preference - even the luggage tags I was given said "economy" in big letters (lest heaven forbid they accidently take better care of my bag?).
There was a very limited allowance for caryons (bags had to be under 13kg) - so forget about that wheely bag you usually fly with. The seats in economy were very small - my knees were in contact with the seat ahead of me for 6 hours (and I'm 5 ft 10 inches). Also - they have a pretty good tv system but the controller sits inside your seat and was squishing uncomfortably into the side of my leg.
The dinner was nice with fresh salad and fruit, the stewardesses were nice (though not so the stewards).
Check in was unpleasant - zoolike and slow. The TV and movies were nice however and they did give out a bag with a tooth brush, eye covers for sleeping, and ear plugs which was a great surprise.
There was no inflight magazine! Just a catalog of expensive products to buy and a list of the entertaiment.
The most amazing thing about VA is that for such a big sophisticated company they lack a user friendly website.
