I am an Malaysian. My visit to vietnam was in the month of June, 2 years back. It was a beautiful trip. On the 1st day we had dinner abroad a ship crusing along the Saigon river with entertainment on the boat. It was mesmarising. On the 2nd day we visited the Chu Chi Tunnels (built by the communist during the Vietnam war). I had the opportunity of going into the tunnel for 50 meters and it was an experience of a life time. You have to practically crawl through the tunnel. We were told that during the war the tunnel was fully equipped with weapons, medicine etc for the communist to fight the war with the Americans. We have to experience it to find out why the Americans couldn't win the war against the communist. The next day we visited Vung Tau which was near the seaside. This is a beautiful place. There is a church high up on the hill. A hugh Jesus statue standing above it can be viewed from any part of the Vung Tau town. To reach the church you have to climb the staircase which I was told was a few hundred steps. But once you reach the top, The scenery from the top is really worth it. The thing sold in vietnam are really very cheap. T-Shirts for US$1. Beautiful A4 size paintings for US$ 1. The beaded bags and purses were really cheap. To me it was like shopping paradise. Souvenirs were in abdundance. Vietnam is a good place to visit for sightseeing and I feel everyone should go there at least once in a life time to see how the poor and humble people of vietnam leave.
