I deeply regret ever ordering a Solid wood Queen bed with Hydraulic storage from Urbanwood Furniture, and I am writing this review as a serious warning to prospective buyers: Do not waste your money or your sanity. What was promised as "heirloom quality modern pieces" turned out to be an exercise in frustration , delivered defective items and customer service making false promises.
The Flimsy Reality: Quality is an Illusion
The moment the items were unboxed, the disparity between the website photos and the actual product was shocking. I ordered a Relay wooden bed with storage .
The "solid wood" claim is questionable at best. The bed planks are all cheap dust wood particle boards and that to was broken and it was pasted and polished to hide. The finish on the beds was thin, chipping away straight out of the box, revealing cheap, laminated particle board underneath in several spots. The ceramic tiles on the head and foot end were loose and many fell off which me and the carpenter who was installing had to repaste with Fevicol. The pre-drilled holes for the plank unit were misaligned by almost a full centimeter, making proper assembly impossible without drilling new holes , something I should absolutely not have to do for a premium-priced piece.
The Endless Wait:
The delivery was a disaster in three acts:
The Delay: The advertised 4-6 week lead time ballooned into 11 weeks with zero proactive communication. I had to call them repeatedly to get vague updates and the main person never picks up the phone or responds. They opened a whats app group where the customer care person only wrote long replies with false promises.
The Damage: When the shipment finally arrived, the courier guys asked for extra money which I had to pay in spite of it being a door delivery.
The Assembly Pain: The assembly instructions were not attached nor were the parts numbered making it very difficult for the outsourced carpenter to install. pages in broken The company does not have their own carpenters to install the product and outsourced them from Urban company. The carpenter services were cancelled 5 times over 2 days as they refused to pay the carpenter his charges.
Refusal to Refund: When there was a delay of many weeks I requested for a refund which they denied saying production has started. After making a full payment of 50 K I was stuck with them and had to put the mattress on the floor and sleep as I had relocated and had no bed.
My experience with Urbanwood Furniture has been nothing short of a scam. You are paying high-end prices for low-grade, damaged goods and zero support. Save your money and shop elsewhere
