Its NOT about who provides the insurance - be it times, onsitego, appsadily, https://syskagadgetsecure.com, foneessential.com …. none of these players can offer insurance themselves. They have to rely on govt IRDA approved general insurance companies such as National, iffko, New India, HDFC Ergo bla bla.
It is now insurance company to accept/reject the claim. they are generally for screen damage, liquid damage but when it comes to loss/theft they are super careful - exclusion such as frauds, intentional loss, not careful enough…u had it . then they deduct sharp depreciation. Remember they also ask for Original Invoice esp in case of theft - else a person is capable of loosing phones & claiming many times in india:)
I also think its USELESS to pay extra for pickup/drop/replacement phone. You get your own phone in 14–21 days! read the terms carefully. its better to get it repaired in front of eyes & charge later. I cannot trust my phone or password to a courier guy who comes to collect it! its too personal a stuff.
so find out what else is bundled with insurance - security? virus? credit card loss? data wipe on loss? price? thats important. also be extra careful on which antivirus brand you get. I actually went for fone-essential because I got it the cheapest with added virus & fraud app that is good.
