Cutting through the very belief system of Christianity, its an interesting plot line. Others on this forum have beaten me to the story review so I shall not repeat the plot line but critique the movie instead.
Bottom line is the story exposes a secret the Church has protected for years that Jesus was human after all. He married and had a bloodline. So that ruins it for the Church?? WHy is it such a big issue is the question. After all, Gods and dieties from other religions had children too.
It is the tenets of the religion that matter. What it does show is the massacre that is permitted in the name of religion.
Given the recent comments of the Pope on the issue of conversion in India it should be an eye opener to wake up and smell the coffee now.
Bettany is probably the only actor worth giving any credit to for acting, Hanks mouths dialogues and less said about the others the better.
