These are, in my opinion, the ten best songs of A R Rahman in the world of Hindi film Music, listed not in any particular order. Was really hard to chose, I might add.
1.**Aei Ajnabi*
This song is from the film **Dil Se**.This was the first film in Hindi by the renowned director Mani Ratnam.Though the film did not fare well at the box office, its songs were all chart busters. This song was sung by **Udit Narayan**.One of the most soulful melodies composed, this song is very pleasant to the ears and the song conveys the pangs of seperation perfectly.A wonderful song
2.**Bol Sajni*
This song is from the film **Doli Saja Ke Rakhna**.This was a film directed by Priya Darshan. This film was a remake of a Malayalam film which was a huge hit.Again, though this film did not fare well, the songs were again hits. This song was sung by **Sonu Nigam** and **Kavitha Krishnamurthy**.This song is a romantic song which is sung in the movie when love creeps up between the hero and the heroine. Both the singers do full justice to this song.this song has an instrumental also, which is also wonderful
3.**Khamosh Raat*
This song is from the film **Thakshak**.This song was sung by **Roop Kumar Rathod**.This again, is one of the better songs composed by A R Rahman. The song is elevated to great heights by the wonderful voice of the singer.Thoroughly recommended.
4.**Desh Ki Mitti*
This song is sung by **Sonu Nigam**, with good support from **Anuradha Sriram**.This song is from the film **Bose:the Forgotten Hero**.Though the lates offering from A R Rahman, I have listened to this song quite a few times, and it qualifies to be among his best works.
5.**Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera*
This song is from the film **Swades** which is directed by **Ashutosh Gowariker**.This song has been sung by **A R Rahman**.This song implores all the Indians living abroad to think about what they are missing and return to their motherland.**Rahman** has a knack of singing patriotic songs and he comes up trumps with this song. This song does give you goose bumps when you listen to it
6.**Mitwa*
This song is from the film **Lagaan** again directed by Gowariker. This song is sung by **Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik**.This song encourages the people to fight against all odds and if they fight hard then they will win, whatever the odds.Rendered wonderfully by bot the singers, this song is one of my all time favourites.
7.**kya kare kya na kare*
This song is from the film **Rangeela** which was directed by **Ram Gopal Varma** and was the first film which Rahman had done in Hindi i.e it was not a dubbed movie. This album took the hindi cine world by storm. All the songs in this film were huge hits, but somehow this song is closer to my heart than all the other songs in the album
8.**Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna*
This song is from the film **The Legend Of Bhagat Singh**.This song has been sung by **Sonu Nigam and Hari haran**.This film is sung when the protagonists are suffering from all known tortures inside the prison when trying to get freedom for the country. One of the best inspirational songs ever, this song is elevated to great heights by the wonderful singers. The choice of the singers to say in one word.SUPERB.I guess Rahman won a National award for the music score of this film
9.**Dheeme Dheeme- Earth*
This song is from the film **Earth**.This song, again has been sung by **Hari haran**.This song is sung again, when'there is love in the air' between the lead pair in the movie.A wonderful soft melody, this song can be heard again and again.
10.**Dheeme Dheeme - Zubeidaa*
This song is sung by **Kavitha Krishnamurthy**.This is again a wonderful melodious number which is very pleasing to the ears.Though the film did not do well in the theatres, the songs were well composed and this song stands out especially.
Apart from these songs there were many other songs like **Dil Se from Dil Se, Azadi from Bose, songs from Rangeela** and scores of other songs. But the top 10 songs has to have only 10 songs!:).So all the others missed out, but just.
