I have been using a Tata Indicom Limited Mobile CDMA phone. I have been extremely satisfied with the service. I would not say it is fault free, no service in India has yet achieved that distinction. However, it is excellent Value for money. I have purchased a Kyocera handset and taken a finance scheme.
Whenever I have had problems, the Tata staff and costumer care folks have been more than helpful and courteous, they actually call back to check if your problem has been solved.
I have had billing complaints once, but they have been looked into immediately, I didnt have to pay even a rupee extra.
All in all, I think they are delivering what they promised. I would rather be promised the moon and taken there, rather than promised a trip to another galaxy and dumped in the middle of nowhere, something which I think Reliance people have done. There is no fine print which one would miss out, no hidden costs - except for the warranty on the handset in the finance scheme.
The only shortcoming is there is no data services available on this phone, ie. no sms. However, since even Reliance offers this only within its own network (which seems to be ineffective even under the shade of a tree!! ), I guess I am not complaining much.
All in all..those who really wish to switch from GSM to CDMA, this is a good option - you get a decent handset, its not as classy as the Reliance thingy, but its good nonetheless. The services and customer care are far superior to Reliance, I can say so because I have had first hand experience with both - my collegue has a Reliance phone.
